ART OF MCSWEENEY’S
THE EDITORS OF MCSWEENEY’S
The last couple of years I have managed to collect quite a few McSweeney books, not because I actively search for them but my friend Babette does. I initially buy the book for her either as a birthday present or Christmas present only to found out that she already has a copy so I end up keeping it. This has happened far too many times and I am sure she thinks I do this on purpose so that I can increase my collection.

THE WONDERFUL STORY OF HENRY SUGAR AND SIX MORE
ROALD DAHL
I grew up with Roald Dahl. I read his stories over and over again. What fascinated me the most was that every ending seemed to have a strange twist, which made me read the same story over and over again.

MARK Z. DANIELEWSKI
Sacha recommended me this book. You can read it both backwards and forwards, and the author suggests you alternate between the 2 characters, reading 8 pages at a time. I tried, but I obviously didn’t try hard enough. I never got past the first 8 pages.

LOUIS DE BERNIERES
Anne gave me this beautiful book. I read it because its part of my history. It took me 1 month to get through the first 50 pages and 3 days to finish the last 750. I need to give it a couple of years and then I think I will read it again. (this is a reminder)

LYRICS AND PROSE OF EDWARD LEAR
I grow up reading the absurdities of Edward Lear. What I don’t remember is if at the age of 8 I was aware of the absurd or I just thought it was completely normal.

TWITTERATURE – THE WORLD’S GREATEST BOOKS RETOLD THROUGH TWITTER
ALEXANDER ACIMAN & EMMETT RENSIN
You just have to have this book, 1 – the the idea that penguin would publish this and 2 – that you can read all the classics from Kafka to Shakespeare in about 40 minutes.

ORHAN PAMUK
Tom gave me this book for Christmas, the Dutch edition, and one month later I also received the English one, which was very nice of him, now I have no excuse not to read it. Tom said it was his favorite book so far, I am always impressed when someone claims just one book out of so many.
