ART OF MCSWEENEY’S

ART OF MCSWEENEY’S
THE EDITORS OF MCSWEENEY’S
The last couple of years I have managed to collect quite a few McSweeney books, not because I actively search for them but my friend Babette does. I initially buy the book for her either as a birthday present or Christmas present only to found out that she already has a copy so I end up keeping it. This has happened far too many times and I am sure she thinks I do this on purpose so that I can increase my collection.
MATARE

MATARE
STEDELIJK MUSEUM AMSTERDAM
Another catalogue designed by Wim Crouwel, this time I bought it for the great back cover instead of the front, although the front is more unusual.
ANDRE VOLTEN

ANDRE VOLTEN
STEDELIJK MUSEUM AMSTERDAM
I occasionally look for Stedelijk Museum Catalogues designed by Wim Crouwel. I quite like the idea that they are hard to find, not because they are very rare but because they are so thin. You literally have to pull each book out from the book shelf in case there is one hidden between a dust jacket and a hard cover.
RED BOOK

RED BOOK
DAVID SHRIGLEY
This is the latest book I bought by Shrigley, at some point I couldn’t keep up with the amount of books he was releasing. Since I was in art school in London he has been my favorite artist. Two years ago we interviewed him for Typeradio, I was so nervous to meet one of my heroes in person, I almost didn’t say a single word.

DAYDREAM
KEIICHI TANAAMI
Being jealous is not a good trait, but seriously the work of Keiichi Tanaami brings out the worst in me. I hope you fall in love with his work too.
THE PHILOSOPHY OF ANDY WARHOL

THE PHILOSOPHY OF ANDY WARHOL (FROM A TO Z AND BACK AGAIN)
ANDY WARHOL
I first heard an excerpt on Typeradio a few years ago and had the book on my list since then. Finally I got round to it last summer, it was 45 degrees outside so there was no choice but to read till it cooled down. I hate to say but I could relate to some of Andy Warhols odd habits and remarks. When I finished the book, I really wished I could of met him in person.
THE ART TEACHER

THE ART TEACHER
PEDRO J LEMOS
This book was published in 1931, since then the perspective on art education has changed although learning how to stencil ducks might come useful one day. The dedication in the book reads as follows ‘Dedicated to the art teachers of America, ambassadors of beauty, builders of better environment’

IMPORTANT ARTIFACTS AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF LENORE DOOLAN AND HAROLD MORRIS, INCLUDING BOOKS, STREET FASHION AND JEWELRY
LEANNE SHAPTON
I always wanted this book and unexpectedly I received it as a gift from Lukas. Just the idea of it is brilliant – a love story told through the form of an auction catalogue.

BUREAU OF THE CENTRE FOR THE STUDY OF SURREALISM AND ITS LEGACY
MARK DION
I always wanted to live in an imaginary museum, this book reminds me of what it should look like.
